Review: Color of the year Tango/Tangerine Orange

Sephora's been promoting its new limited collection Sephora + Pantone Universe and the color of the year Tangerine Tango. I've been looking for a perfect tangerine orange lipstick and blush to pair with my Smashbox Click You're It # 9 eyeshadow, so I thought I'd give this a try.

Color of the year Creme lipstick in Tangerine Tango $18:
The first thing that caught my eyes when I saw this in-store was the packaging. It is big and heavy and difficult to open. The lipstick's case has a magnet which is really nice. But when I tried it on, the color just wouldn't stay on my lips. I primed my lips with concealer hoping that the color would stay on, but same disappointing result. The fact that the color is very sheer and doesn't stay made my lips look blotchy despite my many attempts to smooth out the colors. Now the color is supposed to be Tangerine Orange, but when I put it on, it looked nothing like that--more like a lighter shade of brick red.
The only good thing about this lipstick is its packing (which in my opinion, is a waste of resource) that you will eventually throw out anyways. For $18 dollars ($15 with 15% off Sephora Chic Week) you can get a better lipstick with more product in it (this one has 0.1 oz)

COLOR OF THE YEAR PRISMA CHROME BLUSH APRICOT BRANDY $16:

Again, it comes with a big and a heavy package (can probably crack a head if you throw it at someone), the color is more like a luminous peachy sheen. It would probably look better on fair skin, it just didn't show up on my medium-tone skin. I like the pigment but that's not enough for me to keep the blush.
